Overview
The i-370 is one of two pickups sold by Isuzu in the US, and an up-level i-series model. The 2008 Isuzu i-290 and i-370 pickups are re-trimmed versions of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. For 2008, the i-370 gets an optional integrated trailer hitch, a sliding rear window, simplified option packages and increased towing capacity. The pickup is available in two versions, with an emphasis on comfort and convenience in the crew cab body style, and with impressive towing capacity in the extended cab version.
Powertrain And Performance
The i-370 has a 242-horsepower, 3.7-liter, five-cylinder engine teamed with a four-speed automatic. It has a towing capacity of 5,500 pounds. The pickup comes as a rear-drive extended cab, or as a crew cab with rear drive or available 4WD. The 4WD system includes a low-range gear for off-road driving. Extended cabs have a 6-foot cargo box and crew cabs a 5-foot box. Fuel economy is 16/22 mpg (city/highway) on the extended cab and 16/22 mpg on the crew cab.
Build And Styling
The i-370 resembles the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon on the outside, but for Isuzu's massive chrome grille with three bars. The pickup wears aluminum wheels with 15-inch tires. Radiant orange metallic, midnight metallic and cool slate metallic are the new colors for 2008. The crew cab has a comfortable cabin with an available 60/40 rear seat that folds flat, and a two-tier tailgate that accommodates lengthy cargo. Standard features include air conditioning, a tilt steering column, CD/MP3 player, remote keyless entry, cruise control, and power accessories.
Safety Features
Standard safety features include four-wheel anti-lock brakes, traction control, side curtain air bags (crew cab), dual-stage air bags, child seat anchors, and a tire-pressure monitoring system.
